My Cats

Onyx came into my life on February 23rd, 1996, a gift from my ex-fiancee, for my 23rd birthday. I got her at Cambridge PetCare, where my friend Cassy and I found her after a long fruitless search at animal shelters and the like for non-existent kittens. The first thing that Onyx did when I held her was nestle up against me and look into my eyes. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, and I knew she was meant to be mine.

I took Onyx home and let her roam around. I decided to keep the name they had given her at the pet shop since it just fit well. Onyx is completely black, except for tiny white patches on her chest, back paws, and... ahem... nether-regions. It makes walking around in the dark a constant feat and occasional hassle.
Onyx's other names derive from a variety of other sources. "Marie" was the name of the little female kitten in Disney's "The Aristocats." The one who was always falling out of or falling into something that she wasn't supposed to. This is the epitome of Onyx's behavior, as it is with most cats. So, I began calling her Onyx-Marie.
