My Cats(continued)

While I was waiting, I went in and asked the shop owners about the kittens' statistics. And despite the fact that there really wasn't room for another animal in my little apartment, I could see that there was no use resisting. So, the reasoning sequence began: Onyx had been very depressed lately, since she tended to be alone all day (during work hours), and there was hardly ever time to play when someone WAS home. Getting a kitten would be the perfect way to give her a companion.
Needless to say, we ended up getting one, an adorable little tortoise haired female, who then needed a new name. Onyx was none too pleased at the thought of having this furry little monstrosity in her household, so she needed to be leashed so that she could only get so close to the kitten, while the little one roamed around and explore her new home (did I mention how piteously she cried on the way back?) Anyway, at the pet store, the owner called her "Rugrat" when he was picking her up to put in her box, and I threatened that if a name couldn't be found, that that's what she would keep. Eventually, though, "Abigail" was settled upon, or Abby short.
The name "Gabriel" came about from my obsession at the time with the show "Xena: Warrior Princess." If you don't already know, Gabriel was Xena's annoying (in my personal opinion) sidekick, who was kind of a human version of Abby to begin with. Plus, the Abigail-Gabriel rhyme is kinda cool...
