Didja Know:A
chronicle of drving stupidity(continued)
DIDJA
KNOW? for 05/09/01:
It's perfectly okay to attempt to cross 3 lanes of traffic because you
can't pay attention to road signs.
THE STORY:
There's a section of road on I-93 where it intersects with MA-24 that
is the worst case of Bad Planning on my drive to work. For example,
the exit where I have to exit I-93 North is about 1500 feet after the
spot where MA-24 merges with it. I call it the Kamikaze Exit, because
you, quite literally, have to zoom across 3 lanes of traffic to get
off the highway (the rightmost lane of 93, and the two merging lanes
that exited off of 24). What makes it suck more is that there is no
right of way designated for that merge. So you just close your eyes
and pray.
Anyway, back
to the story... Going on I-93 South, from miles before the road splits
into 3 lanes on the right for 93 and 2 lanes on the left for 24, there
are signs letting you know this grand event is going to happen. Yet,
for some reason, people STILL don't get it. So, being bored yesterday,
I decided to take the long way home and went on 24 (leftmost lane of
the 5). In front of me was a van who, RIGHT before the split, decided
he wanted to be on 93, and proceeded to attempt to shove his way across
the 3 lanes of traffic to get there. He failed, and ended up swerving
back in forth both in front of me and the car to the right of him. Yet
when both me and the other car honked at him... we both got flipped
off. How DARE we!
